Pura Uluwatu is a temple located at the southern tip of Bali, Indonesia. This temple is known as one of the most spectacular temples in Bali because of its location on a high rocky cliff, offering an amazing sea view. "Uluwatu" itself comes from a Balinese word meaning "rock tip." This temple is dedicated to Lord Rudra, who is believed to be the destroyer god in Hindu belief.
The history of Pura Uluwatu is believed to have existed since the 10th century AD. It is said that this temple was founded by a holy sage named Empu Kuturan, also known as Dang Hyang Nirartha, an influential Hindu monk in Bali's history. Dang Hyang Nirartha is believed to be a figure who played an important role in developing Hindu faith on the island of Bali.
For centuries, Pura Uluwatu has been one of the sacred places for Balinese Hindus and a destination for spiritual pilgrimage. Every day, many local and international tourists come to this temple to witness the spectacular sunset and the famous Kecak dance performance within the temple complex.

Pura Uluwatu is also famous for being one of the most important temples among the six main temples in Bali, known as "Sad Kahyangan" or "six main sacred places" established by Dang Hyang Nirartha to protect Bali from six winds. In addition, this temple is also known for its diverse habitats, including monkeys that are often found around the temple area.
Although Pura Uluwatu historically holds great spiritual and cultural significance, in recent years, this place has also become one of Bali's famous tourist attractions, drawing many visitors from around the world to enjoy its beauty.
